Thomas "Gnomeman" Whittaker Yorkshire Oak Fruit Bowl and Rose Carved Occaisional Table.

The "Gnomeman" Fruit Bowl was commissioned as a special 21st Birthday gift for a friend of Thomas Whittaker's wife and was given to the former owner by Thomas's wife in Whitby during the mid 20th Century. The "Gnomeman" table also originates from the same vendor and friend of the Whittaker's. (Gnomeman Fruit Bowl SOLD)

Legend has it that every time an acorn sprouts a Gnome is born, that Gnome will then guard the Oak tree all of it's life. Thomas Whittaker carved a Gnome into every piece of his Yorkshire artisan furniture throughout his life.

Thomas Whittaker was commissioned by Her Majesty Elizabeth the Queen Mother to make Yorkshire artisan furniture as a gift for Lord Howard de Walden, the aristocratic Racehorse owner and close friend of Her Majesty the Queen Mother.
