Born in 1929 Leslie A Goodwin studied painting, drawing and design at Leicester College of Art from 1949 - 55. In 1959 Leslie was elected member of the Royal Society of Arts and in 1960 a member of the Royal Birmingham Society of Arts.

In 1965 Leslie Goodwin was elected an associate member of the Royal West of England Academy and in 1969 became a full member. In 1983 Leslie was also elected a member of the Leicester Society of Artists.

Leslie Goodwin started working as a commercial artist before going on to lecture in art at the Adult Education Centre, Leicester and later Leicester University, a position from which he retired in 1994.

Leslie Goodwin also exhibited extensively in the USA from California to New York during his coast to coast touring exhibitions and lectures during the 20th century.

Amongst the 20th century artists cited as having an influence upon Leslie Goodwin's work were John Piper, Graham Sutherland and Antoni Taipes.

Leslie Goodwin the broadcaster frequently worked for the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) and BBC Leicester as an art critic. Leslie is a published author of fine art painting techniques as well as a regular contributor to "The Artist" magazine.

Leslie was awarded the MBE in January 2000 in recognition of his charitable work with the NSPCC, Barnardo's, Multiple Sclerosis & Cancer charities.

Leslie Goodwin's works of art were exhibited regularly at The Royal Academy of Arts, London and his work is represented in private and corporate collections throughout the world, including the Royal Collection of HRH Charles, Prince of Wales, heir to the throne and future King of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth.
